Car enthusiasts and race fans across the world know the name Jack Roush. For over 45 years Roush Incorporated, Inc. has been a leader in engineering and manufacturing in the transportation industry on and off the track. Drag Racing has had a special place in Jack’s heart, for he was very active in the 1970’s with Don Bowles, Sr. Roush and Bowles also spent time working together on engines and development, long before the Roush empire was created. Roush Drag Racing’s second generation racing team, founded by Susan Roush-McClenaghan and Donnie Bowles, is making a different impact on the racing world, as leaders on the drag strip and off.  In 2009, Susan Roush-McClenaghan was the first woman to win the Nitto Tire NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl of Street Legal Drag Racing Shootout.

Susan Roush-McClenaghan and Donnie Bowles, Jr. Introduce a Cleaner Way to Race:
Roush-McClenaghan and Bowles, Jr. are building their own legacy. When Susan and Donnie Teamed up to establish the Roush Drag Team, they brought a whole new aspect to drag racing – propane!
Susan states; “When it was first announced (we were using propane), many thought the idea Roush fielding a propane-fuel drag car was a bit of a gimmick. We all understand that propane burns cleaner than gasoline, but can it really be competitive on the race track?”
Why did the Roush Drag team choose propane as their choice to power their race cars? Roush-McClenaghan said, “in our testing propane compared to the different racing fuels, (the fuel we compared LPG to during testing was VP C14 (114 octane race gasoline), we achieved the same amount of torque and power that was achieved from other racing fuels.” Susan also said, “With propane being an American fuel and producing fewer emissions was the deciding factors.” Also “my father is all about using American, and propane is an American fuel.”

AmeriGas, the nation’s largest propane supplier, is proud to sponsor the Roush Drag Team. Partnering with the recognized Roush name to provide and support a fuel solution that is clean, green and proven to not only run efficiently, but to win racing championships, is an honor.
