Hernando County, FL Makes the Switch from Gasoline to Propane

This spring, Hernando County, FL converted their gasoline-powered mowers to propane. Our Metro Lawn Conversion Trainer Dave Calver completed the conversion on-site, along with the Hernando County staff, including the superintendent.

Making the switch to AmeriGas propane AutoGas is easy. And with the rising cost of gasoline, why wait? Propane has several environmental benefits which include:

  • Reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 19%
  • Creates 20% less nitrogen oxide
  • Creates up to 60% less carbon monoxide
  • Virtually no particulate matter
  • Improved air quality

Combine the above benefits with the fact that it has a higher octane rating than gasoline and therefore allows landscapers to keep mowing on “High Pollution Days”. Metro Lawn offers on-site training and technical support, and will certify your local employees on propane conversions. There are several incentives programs available as well.  A variety of government programs are available for special tax credits, grants and funding programs. PERC (Propane Education and Research Council) also offers a mower incentive program.
