Ten years ago, terrorist attacks in New York City, Arlington, VA, and Shanksville, PA, cost nearly 3,000 Americans their lives and injured countless others. We remember the tragedy, not only as fellow Americans, but as a company.
In the months following the attacks on our homeland, AmeriGas was in the nationβs service at the locations of all three attacks, supplying propane to heat food for emergency responders and keep them warm. It was one of the few times propane was allowed to be transported through New York City. It was a sobering experience for the employees called to deliver to the disaster sites, but they were glad to be able to assist in any way they could. Countless others across the company in areas far from the attack sites organized events to raise funds to aid disaster victims.
Remembering the tragedy of September 11 reminds us how precious life is. Instead of dividing our nation, the tragedy brought us together on common ground. Our differences pale in comparison to our appreciation of the freedom and opportunity we enjoy in the United States.
