Memorial Day is a day that many Americans view as the official start of summer, marked by picnics, BBQs, and relaxing with friends and family.

However, Memorial Day is a very important holiday established to give us a time to honor and remember the men and women who have served in the armed forces of the United States of America.

In addition to our picnics and BBQs, here are 5 great ideas for things we can do to celebrate Memorial Day:

Attend A Parade- Many towns have parades, so take some time out of prepping for BBQs and show your support.

Decorate with Flags- Break out the red, white, and blue and show your support for all of the members that have served in the armed forces.

Buy A Poppy- The poppy’s significance is the result of the John McCrea poem “In Flanders Field”. Disabled and needy veterans in VA hospitals have been assembling Buddy Poppies since 1924.

Participate in the National Moment of Remembrance- At 3:00 pm, local time, please pause in an act of national unity for a moment.

Thank A Veteran- Make sure you thank them for all they have done to protect our country and our freedom.

Make sure you are prepared for your BBQ weekend by picking up an AmeriGas Tank at any of these locations!
